Experience

Hope A. Bauman, senior associate attorney, joined the Firm in 2024 and brought with her a wealth of experience from her years in the legal world, as an attorney, a project manager, and as a paralegal. Her sharp legal talent complements the formidable skills of the B & D Law Firm team. Her wide range of legal experience includes working complex cases at the Civil Rights Clinic and for the Mithoff Pro Bono Title IX Project as well handling contractual and insurance coverage disputes, handling IRS appeals, litigation preparation, wildfire litigation, and construction coverage for law firms in New Mexico and Texas. Hope has a strong commitment to civil rights and legal advocacy, believing that everyone has a right to have their voices heard. Her versatile skill set combined with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and her love of all things New Mexico serve to make her a formidable representative for her clients.

Education

Hope holds her Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law, where she served as a staff editor and technical editor for the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties & Civil Rights. She also earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College, where she published a thesis on American exceptionalism and the U.S.-Mexico border, and a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in Political Science and American History from the University of Vermont. She is a member of the New Mexico State Bar Association and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. Throughout her academic and professional career, she has been actively involved in various volunteer efforts, including as a tax preparer for the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

Personal & Professional Involvement

Born and raised in New Mexico, Hope has a deep love and understanding for her New Mexicans. Her family, all New Mexicans, believes in service to the people and for the people. Hope continues this tradition, using her legal skills to make life better for New Mexicans.
